Meditation - Commit to something.

If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world in one generation. - Dalai Lama.
Even if you are only meditating sometimes or very rarely, try to talk about meditation with your child, ask them if they have heard about it, you might be surprised. Encourage them to ask questions, they may want to sit and try it with you. I asked my 5 yr old daughter today what she thinks meditation is and she said “Meditation is when you sit down and think good thoughts.” ♥️
You could even get them a special pillow. Seeing mum calm, quiet, still and peaceful will affect their energy too.
I recently watched a video clip by renowned meditation teacher and psychologist, Tara Brach about her journey. She opened up about how hard it was for her, when her son was born, to meditate regularly. So she committed to doing ‘something’ everyday. Even if that something was just sitting down, reconnecting with her body, taking a deep breath and setting an intention - that is enough. She often says it’s more of a trick because as soon as you start - something within you wants to keep going.

The secret is to commit. Commit to doing SOMETHING everyday. If you have never meditated before or don’t know where to start - do some deep breathing - box breathing (Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, breathe our for 4, hold for 4 - repeat) or the 4-7-8 technique.( Breathe in for 4, hold for 7 and breathe out for 8) Great to do if you’re having trouble sleeping.

Your body and mind will begin to react to the change in breath - when we focus on our breathing it can be like little love notes to our body. I promise you’ll be intrigued to do more.

Breathing is easy to do alongside your children, they will naturally begin to do it with you.

(We have both children’s and adults meditations for you to try in our meditation package within the Village.
